Notifications
Get a message in Slack or Discord, or a webhook, when builds start running, fail or pass.
Notifications tell your team about builds where they already talk. Each project can post to any number of Slack channels, Discord channels and webhooks.
Manage them from the Notifications section of the project's Settings tab.
Managing notifications requires the admin role — see Members and roles.
Connect Slack
- Click Add to Slack.
- Pick the workspace and the channel to post in, then click Allow.
You land back in the project's settings, where the channel shows as #channel with its workspace underneath.
Connect Discord
- Click Add to Discord.
- Pick the server and the channel to post in, then click Authorize. You need permission to manage webhooks on that server.
You land back in the project's settings, where the connection shows the server's name. Discord doesn't share channel names, so use Open in Discord to see which channel it posts to.
Add a webhook
To send build events to your own tools, click Add webhook and enter an HTTPS URL. See Webhooks for the payload and how to verify signatures.
Events
Choose which events each connection receives:
| Event | Sent when |
|---|---|
| Running | A build starts running. |
| Failed | A build fails. |
| Passed | A build passes. |
New connections get Failed and Passed. At least one event stays selected. Canceled builds don't send notifications.
Slack and Discord messages show the project, build number and status, the preset and platform, the branch, the duration, the commit, and a link to the build.
Test and troubleshoot
Click a connection to expand it:
- Send test posts a test message right away and tells you whether it was delivered.
- Recent deliveries lists the last 100 notifications sent, with their status. Click one to see the request sent and the response received, or the error.
- Open in Slack or Open in Discord opens the channel.
Each notification is sent once and isn't retried. If a delivery failed, its response or error says why.
Remove a connection
Click Remove to stop sending notifications to it.
If the integration is removed on the other side instead, for example by deleting the webhook in Discord's channel settings or removing the app from Slack, deliveries start failing. Remove the connection here, then add it again if needed.
